Caitlin's Book of the Month - March 2015
There is still snow on the ground here in Dallas, but I am dreaming of Spring! For March, I have selected a couple of beautiful, colorful, interactive books that make me think of a new season. I was so delighted to find these books that encourage children to touch the pages. After just one read aloud, young ones will be able to play with these books on their own, building confidence and comfortability. They are perfect for emerging readers.
The first is Mix It Up! by Herve Tullet. This beautiful book prompts kids to identify and mix colors. Kids will feel like they are finger painting and, on first glance, parents might think so too. I can imagine a whole host of art and science projects that could complement this book.
The second is Tap the Magic Tree, by Christie Matheson. This lovely book asks its readers to tap, shake, jiggle and kiss it. The Magic Tree transitions through all four seasons with the help of your children and students. Check out the this video to experience it for yourself!
I hope you enjoy. Wishing you a beautiful, blossoming, book-filled spring!
