Full Steam Ahead with KERA
KERA has several digital resources available for use by schools and organizations serving children and families. Content in Ready for Life helps parents, teachers, and caregivers prepare young children to live healthy and socially rich lives. The videos and digital materials explore four areas: Attachment & Socialization; Early Literacy; Nutrition & Fitness; and Temperament.
KERA also sends out a weekly e-mail newsletter with parenting tips and activities related to PBS children’s programming. Called Full STEAM Ahead, it seeks to build skills in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. You can sign up to receive it here.
The station is also expanding its mission to provide compelling educational content for children and families across North Texas. One step will be to launch a new Education website in late 2016 or early 2017, with resources for parents, caregivers, educators and students of all ages. In addition to updating some existing content such as Ready for Life and Full STEAM Ahead, this new site will feature interactive digital and broadcast resources to engage kids in elementary and secondary grades, and will provide supporting materials for educators and parents. Stay tuned for announcements as the launch date nears.
